Engaging your builder early means a smoother process and better results. We’re actively involved in the early design phase, reviewing floor plans and elevations as they’re developed. We schedule collaborative review sessions with the designer to mark up drawings, share feedback, and make refinements together to create a more efficient and aligned process. Our team is deeply involved in the design phase to ensure your custom home in Fernie is aligned with your vision, budget, and site from day one.

Bring your own design plans

Already have architectural plans or a preferred designer? No problem! At Elk River Mountain Homes, we’re happy to collaborate with your chosen architect or design team to bring your vision to life. Our experienced team understands how to translate great design into precision craftsmanship - ensuring your custom home in Fernie is built to the highest standards of quality, efficiency, and attention to detail. We’ll manage construction with transparency, communication, and respect for your design and budget.

  • 01. Pre-Design

    Site visit. Exchange ideas. Discuss your vision and use of the home. Bring your own plans or use our team's design expertise.

  • 02. Preliminary Design Concept & Revisions

    Discuss your vision, needs and lifestyle. We typically meet after each revision for feedback and to answer questions. It’s typical to go through up to four revisions.

  • 03. Construction & Drawing Development

    Plans are developed into a detailed permit-ready set. Expect further review sessions to refine construction drawings.

  • 04. Breaking Ground

    Construction begins!

  • 05. Selection, Procurement & Updates

    We set up regular online meetings with you every two weeks to review site progress and answer any questions. We work with you on any decisions to be made and quotes.

  • 06. Final Walkthrough

    We hand over the keys to your new custom home. Our team is always on call to answer questions.
